RC-11 and RC-12 open-drive machines fail in familiar ways: valve plates that were mixed old and new, liner ovality that was never measured, and a shaft seal fitted to a motor that was never re-aligned. Screw packages miss the slide. Carbonised oil on the capacity or Vi piston looks like a “controls problem” until the casing is open. Polishing a grooved carbon seal face is a 90-day callback. Replace the seal as a set, measure bearings, and look at the thrust faces. Then laser-align. Screw frames forgive less angular error than old piston sets.
Refurbished Grasso compressors are a legitimate cover strategy. They are not a substitute for inspection. Ask for the clearance sheet. A painted casing with unknown hours is a used machine, not a rebuild. We would rather quote an overhaul of your serial number than sell you a mystery.
